While attending a Dropkick Murphys show on February 8, 2004, one of the three opening bands rocked as hard as the Murphys. Also hailing from Boston, MA, the Psychobilly outfit Kings of Nuthin' absolutely killed. Playing rockabilly at ridiculous tempos and featuring both a stand up bass and piano, the Kings blew the rest of the opening bands off the stage, including the supposedly-talented Unseen. Zack Brines on piano was a particular favorite of ours (including the slack-jawed Marc Orwell of the Murphys) by palying "Chop Sticks" when we requested, although bassist Spike Katz was offered the chance to father children with the female of our group. But much like the kids on "Reading Rainbow", don't take our word for it - check out the band at kingsofnuthin.com, where you can download three MP3s and order albums.

It also must be mentioned that lead singer Torr Skoog is a front-runner for the CleverCitizen.Com Name of the Year award. Also nominated: Quang Bang, Teddy Bruschi, Frank McCool and Ya Ya Dia.
