Hannon's Ascension to Greatness (part 3)
by KSK "Kansas City" Keith Hannon

It has been a while since my last email, classes and internships offically started last week so things are getting busy. I will have internet capability in my apartment as of this Wednesday, so it will be much easier to keep in touch. I have to give my friend Mike Wolf a special thank you for putting in a good word for me with the Best Damn Sports Show producer. I didn't thank him in my last email and it resulted in a scathing voice mail message. Thank you for that Mike, some night when I'm drunk I'll be calling you in the middle of the night.

First days on the job went well. It was relatively relaxed since most of the crew was in San Diego for the Super Bowl. But I think I'll fit in well. All the people are really nice and I sat in the control room for the show on Thursday and Friday. One of the co-hosts of the show, former NBA player John Salley, absolutely dwarfs me. He walked by in the office the other day and I felt like he could have stepped on me. He drives a brand new yellow Hummer which I'm hoping to take for a test spin one of these days. John Kruk was out side the building the other day complaining about his golf swing with someone, I was going to give him some tips, but then I remembered I'm bad.

I have a rental car now. It's a 2002 Ford Escort and it feels like a go-cart. It is snug, to say the least but it gets me around town and into small openings in traffic. I have located a solid Oldies station in the area and enjoy crusing around to the sounds of the 60's.

I'm still waiting to make contact with the Jimmy Kimmel show, I called them last week and said it will be a week or so before they bring in interns. Hopefully I hear from them this week. The Super Bowl was fun, we went to a client's of Chris' uncle. There was a lot of food and an abundance of gambling. We were putting money on everything from will it be a pass play or a run play, to what type of commericals will be shown during the next break. I won 80 dollars in the pool, I was pretty excited about that. Being the Bills fan that I am, it was the first Super Bowl in my short life that I actually left smiling. I only put in $10 so that's a pretty good cash in. The funniest thing at the party was that some guy brought over his pet goat. So there was a tiny little goat running around the party. It urinated quite a bit outside, but other than that it was cute.

Other than that I try to do plenty of sun bathing and swimming. I have also started playing sand volleyball with people. It's a lot of fun. Now that I have my sneakers I can hit the basketball and tennis courts. (Thanks to Grandpa for shipping all that stuff out to me) I spent back to back nights at a bar called the Saddle Ranch this weekend. It's a fun place with a mechanical bull. They make they huge drinks that come in carafes, much like wine. They go for 12 bucks a piece, I have two of those and I'm happy.

I finally got out to a mall today and bought a pillow and comforter. It's about time I have a pillow and blanket, it was only 2 weeks without them. I also went to Super Cuts and got a hair cut. It's no Hollywood Barber. Instead of stimulating conversation with my Italian barber, I needed subtitles to understand the Hispanic woman chopping away at my head.

Well I must run, plenty of sun to soak up, it will be May and I will be back amongst you all in no time, so I have to take advantage, so you'll be jealous of my 4 month head start on the sun.

I also was in The Price Is Right audience the other day. Didn't get called up, but I got on camera a bunch of times. Look for a guy in jeans and a blue Ithaca wind breaker. I'm right on the aisle, in the back on the left. It airs Feb. 11th - write a note, put a tape in.
