FAQ - ASU Geto Boy Hockey

1. Where is Pauly's?
-Joey Fagan's Pauly's Hotel, established sometime in the late 1600s, is located on Central Avenue in Albany, NY. It's roughly 3 blocks from Western Avenue, which is the heart of the Student Ghetto in Albany. Happy Hour specials include one dollar bottles, and 25 cent drafts. The Geto Boy Hockey section is the corner near the ATM and the mirror. Pauly's has seen many wonderful exciting things, including the hug between Gabe and Baker, a Phish show in 1989, dart mastery, and lots of Sloptarts being taken home.

2. Is it really that great of a time to be in Albany? The city kind of blows, doesn't it?
-That is false. Albany really is a rockin' town. Within the walking distance radius of the Student Ghetto, there are twenty or more bars. And if you hop in a car, there are many more further downtown. There are also an abundance of 24 hour diners, which as everyone knows, is the true mark of a good city. Speaking of food, it marvelous and mighty cheap. All in all, the city has everything anyone (college or not) could ask for. Just don't head down to Arbor Hill...

3. Did Coach Scott Card really in the American Hockey League (AHL)?
-Yes. After playing Juniors in Binghamton, NY, Scott played goalie in various minor leagues, including the AHL. He never made it to the NHL, but he did give Matt Rich his Rochester Americans jersey, which has to be worth something.

4. Does that kid Fat Chad really play?
-Fat Chad falls into the category of Non-Hockey Playing Geto Boy (NHPGB). There are a few of these persons, including Fat Chad, "Lucious" Jon Ledenheim, Chad "Heavy C" Diamantopolous, Charles H. "Rip Ass" Thornton, "Diamond" Dave Totten, Kevin "Silky White Chocolate" Rogers, Joey "Poopy" Savan. Some of these gentlemen played in the past, but definitely not Fat Chad.

5. Why are there so many pictures of Rossy and Baker?
-I really can't say, but either they are really photogenic, or in the right place at the right time.

6. What is so special about the song "Dead Wrong"?
-"Dead Wrong", written and performed by Notorious BIG, was a staple of every Pauly's night and every house party. The tradition of rapping the entire song was started by "Diamond" Dave Totten, Fat Chad and Josh "O" Oryhon, and later picked up Mike "Flip" Sivulich.

7. Who is Kevin Rogers? Is his nickname really "Silky White Chocolate"?
-Yes. Silky originally came to Albany with the freshman class of 2002. He played defense for the Great Danes, but left school to become a police officer. He works for the New York Police Department, and uses his badge to get free pizza and bagels. He comes up to Albany frequently and always good for a lark.

8. What is Floopjack?
-It is an organization created to counteract the influence of fraternities. To be inducted, the new Floopee sits in a chair and Kevin "Silky White Chocolate" runs at you which his pants down. Thankfully, the members of Floopjack and quite small in number.

9. Do Gabe and Baker really hate each other?
-"Hate" might be too strong of a word, but there is dislike. It makes for great locker room talk.

10. Where did JK, George, Scott Conklin and Chris Cervinik go?
-Jason "JK" Kane transferred to Geneseo State University, George "Emo Is Not PDA" Carney still plays hockey but has become unstable since he almost pushed Brian "Maunel" Flanagan off the porch at the 264 Western Avenue. Scott "Never Needed A Nickname" Conklin quit hockey after his freshman year but hangs out periodically. Chris "My Girlfriend Hooked Up With Gabe" Cervinik, was a veteran cut in 2001. He had suited up entirely before the first game, but was told that he wasn't supposed to. He left the rink and never came back. Has not been seen since.

11. Did Flanny almost die?
-At the Second Annual Formal, Brian "Maunel" Flanagan made a witty comment about George Carney, as is usually done. George overreated and shoved Flanny. Flanny fell backwards over the edge of the porch. In desperation, he grabbed on the porch with the back of his knees and Robert "The Bob" Bedford. Bobby and everyone around pulled Flanny up to safety. If Flanny would have gone over the edge completely, it would have been a bummer for the party.

12. Where are the new pictures of 264 Western Ave and the Big Red House on Yates?
-There are none. After the 2000-2001 year, inhabitants of both houses moved out. The biggest loss was 264 Western Ave. As it is shown in the section, countless hours of parties were held there and many fantastic occurences happened.

13. What made 264 so special?
-264 Western Avenue, also known as 264, was a great party house. It had a front porch, that overlooked Western Avenue, a very busy street that always has pedestrians to harrass or throw stuff at. 264 also had two living rooms and a huge kitchen. The following all lived in this house: Billy "Ho" Newport, Mikey "Creed Makes My Ass Sting" Rich, Joey "Poopy" Savan, "Lucious" Jon Ledenheim, and Brad "Girth" Shelton.

14. Was Jessica really pregnant?
-In addition to her ability to send people to hell, Jessica also has a bit of a fibbing problem. She was not pregnant, but could manipulate her stomach muscles well enough to mimic the motion of a fetus.

15. What was Camp Fungus?
-Camp Fungus was a retreat held at Robert "The Bob" Bedford's skiing cottage somewhere in New York. Detals are sketchy as to what happened, but there were reports of hackey sack at dawn, an attack of Robster Crawls, Flanny wetting himself, and Twizzlers being chewed for multiple hours. The participants were: The aforementioned Bobby, "Big Gay" Dan Colantuoni, Gabe "Gaber" Sganga, Mikey "T" Rich, "Diamond" Dave Totten, Brian "Manuel" Flanagan, josho, and Jeff "Rossy" Ross.

16. Who is the Ho Train?
-George "..." Carney was friends with these girls first. They started to hang out at the end of the 2000-2001 school year. They have since become full-fledged friends with everyone and hold much influence in the politics of it all. The Ho Train is: Krack Staff Komrade SLF, Jessica Resnick, Sara Resnick, Vicki "Big Clit" Cioffi and Diane Wasileski.

17. Cankles???
-That's Brian "Manuel" Flanagan's ankle condition. Apparently there is no definition between his calf muscles and ankles.

18. Who are Gleb and Helga?
-They are the supposed cousins of josho and Jeff "Rossy" Ross. In reality, they are pictures of Rossy and Josh when they feel like putting on weird combinations of clothes that don't fit them.

19. What is a Jag-Ovv?
-In the music of the brilliant Wesley "A True Geto Boy" Willis, he pronounces the word "jack-off" as "jag-ovv". The word has been included in the diverse lingo that the Geto Boys use.

20. Can we see list of everyone and what they are called/nicknames?
-That's gonna be a big task. Hmmm...

21. What is Paine 103 and what is "Swiping"?
-Paine 103 is the room that the Ho Train lives in. It is on Colonial Quad on the main campus at Albany. Swiping is the action of people who have meal plans swiping people who don't for dinner. It is a coveted event, because usually the people who don't have the meal plans love all the free food and the company, as opposed to whipping up a batch of Easy-Mac at their apartment.

22. What is the Rodeway Inn?
-It is a hotel on Long Island where the ASU Hockey team staye don two separate road trips. Bottles were tossed off the balcony, 40s were consumed, speeches were given, massages were received, Busdrivers wanted to have relations, televisions were watched and wrestling matches were held.

23. Why do you sing into hockey sticks?
-Oftentimes parties break out when the Geto Boys are all together. Usually music is being played, and the natural progression is to sing along. That has grown into inpromptu concerts given, with the band singing into broken goalie sticks.

24. Who is Phil Lesh?
-Phil Lesh was the bass player for the Grateful Dead. It was noted that Brian "Manuel" Flanagan resembles him. And when the aforementioned concerts are given, Phil Lesh usually makes an appearance.

25. What happened to Big Al?
-Big Al was a glass that lived in 174 Western Ave, and predates the arrival of Matt "Matty" Rich and Brad "Girth" Shelton. The glass was decorated with a fat bear in a vest and hat playing an acoustic guitar. It has seen many things through the years, and was eventually passed down to the new inhibitants. They had taken care of Big Al successfully for one year, until one fateful night during a match of Beer Pong. Gabe "Gabe" Scanga bent over under the Beer Pong table, and bumped into it when he arose. Big Al, safely perched on top, was knocked from his perch, and landed on the floor. He broke. It just so happened that Matt "Matty" Rich and Brad "Girth" Shelton were in the house at the same time, signifying that all the purveyors of Big Al were there. Photos were taken to commemorate the event.

26. How many freakin' formals have you had?
-Three. Two in the 2000-2001 school year and one in the 2001-2002. Some people are still recovering.

27. Why is Andy's date's name "N"?
-During ASU Hockey games, Andy's fan club would come dressed as the letters of his name. He brought "N" to the Formal.

28. Why does Baker have a problem with his tongue?
-Who knows, to tell you the truth. When Dan "Bakes" Baker imbibes, his tongue often comes out to visit. And this Tongue of Peril will attack all that are around, most notably Jeff "Rossy" Ross.

29. Why are you called "Geto Boys"?
-The best rap group of all time, The Geto Boys, hail from Houston, TX. They have composed such fantastic songs as "Damn It Feels Good To Be A Gangster", "The Gangster Of Love", "My Mind's Playing Tricks On Me", Gotta Let Your Nuts Hang" and others. Most of the team can rap at least one of the Geto Boys songs, and somehow the name became synonymous with the team.

30. Do they all compete with the Southern Tier people to try to take over the page?
-Any competition between ASU Geto Boys and Southern Tier Page fans is purely unintentional.

31. Do the Southern Tier people resent this?
-Recently, it has been mentioned in the Guestbook that Southern Tier fans are upset with the amount of Page space that the ASU Geto Boys are receiving. Webmaster Josh "Best Goalie Stats" Oryhon had this to say when reached for comment: "Until the Southern Tier cats start showing that they have as good a time as the A-Town cats, the party-central atmosphere of A-Town will win out".

32. How many hockey players visit the site?
-Out of the 2001-2002 roster, all players and coaching staff visit the Page at least once a month. Some visit it much more.

33. How often are you guys sober?
-About midway through the 3rd period.
